Blawg 100 Amici – Vote for me

So I get a lot of comments from reporters that go something like this, “If only attorneys knew {fill in the blank}.”  And I get a lot of comments from attorneys that go something like this, “I know an attorney who did {fill in the blank}” … or “I didn’t know {fill in the blank}.”  And I get some comments from judges — YES, JUDGES — who read me and say, “It sounds like it’s gotten weirder out there since I left private practice!”  … or “Remember the good old days?”

Vote for me.

For whatever reason — too many years of sitting in silence on the other side of a steno machine, sleep deprivation from back-to-back trials/immediate and daily copy/witnesses who should have had translators, overexposure to stress that has pushed me beyond tragic and into hysterical (several definitions for hysterical…pick one), or a deep-down love of words and stories – I seem to have amassed a cross-section of readership in the legal industry (and lately, beyond).  The ABA Journal is working on their list of 100 best blogs, and if we make the list — I say ”we” because we all know I speak on behalf of many (not all) of my reporting peers — that means that the reporting industry will become the quiet voice that is finally heard.  Let’s face it, nobody knows what we do, what we really do.  Nobody knows how we do it.  Some of people don’t even know we exist.  So if you’re reading me consistently and want our industry to have a push-pin on the legal industry map, feel free to click this link and vote for me.  A vote for me is a vote for us all.

As stated by ABA…

That said, please keep these criteria in mind when submitting Blawg 100 amici:

• We’re primarily interested in blawgs in which the author is recognizable as someone working in a legal field or studying law in the vast majority of his or her posts.

• The blawg should be written with an audience of legal professionals or law students—rather than potential clients or potential law students—in mind.

• The majority of the blawg’s content should be unique to the blawg and not cross-posted or cut and pasted from other publications.

• We are not interested in blawgs that more or less exist to promote the author’s products and services.

Vote for me.

About Margie Kruse

I am a court reporter. A keeper of the record. A fly on the wall. For over a quarter century, I have had a front-row seat in legal proceedings -- private depositions, public trials, town hall meetings! And just when I think I've heard it all, I am proven wrong! What most people don't know about court reporters is that while we seem stoic and hyper efficient, we have ears and eyes and a brain in between. But we cloak our emotions, stifling our laughter. . .and our tears. . .as we make the record. This interactive blog is dedicated to my reporting peers, a place where we can share or courtroom chaos and other fun tales! So grab your favorite beverage, put your keyboard on your lap and feel free to blog along while, together, we record history as we see it! You never know, you might recognize your own story published in Court Reporting Chaos! -The Ink Slinger
