“Aaaah. Ice chips would be great!” Good morning, Andrew. Thanks for our Father’s Day Sunday reminder that you are making forward movement.
It’s Father’s Day and my thoughts are with you because I had a dad. Dads are awesome. They do these amazing things like hoist you up on their shoulders so you can see a parade. They tuck you in at night and check under the bed to assure you there are no scary monsters and let you know you are safe. They make you laugh with their silliness. And they make you do awful dad things like eat vegetables and move your shoes away from the front door so nobody trips and breaks their neck.
I lost my dad after he had a pretty darn long life (not quite long enough, but still. . .) He hoisted me on his shoulders to see parades. He checked the closet routinely for monsters, and under the bed. He made us all laugh till we peed ourselves — yes, he was THAT hilarious. But he made me put my shoes away and do my homework, practice my flute. And he went to war with me over huge things like Brussels sprouts and lima beans. And education, dedication and hard work.
It’s Father’s Day and you’re celebrating your dad. Or, like me, you’re remembering your dad while you celebrate other dads. Well, I have a dad for you add to your list today, to celebrate, to remember. Yep, you guessed it: Andrew Pitts, father of Sebastian (almost five) and Karina (three). We know that their dad will again (hopefully soon) hoist them on his shoulders. . .check for monsters under their bed. . .make them eat vegetables they hate. . .and be there to impart fatherly wisdom.

Special thanks to the Millers of Depoman.com/forum and abovethelaw.com for driving up the hits on Andrew Pitts. There is a special place in heaven for you people!

In August 2003, I, too, suffered a tragic accident and was out of commission a while. Being a freelance reporter with no income makes it a double tragedy. Chances are, the people who showed me such kindness will never have the need for me to repay them w/kindness, so I always said I would “pay it forward” the rest of my life. Even though I don’t know this family, that doesn’t matter. I received cards from complete strangers daily when I was in the hospital, and it was always a day brightener. A check w/a card is on its way to your office, Margie. And, the Pitts family will remain in my thoughts and prayers. Thank you for posting this for the Pitts family who, understandably, is in a huge time of need and will continue to be for quite a while. Please keep us all updated as to his health status. Happy Father’s Day to you, Andrew!
